The Kindy Kids

Issue:

Kids are not prepared enough for the transaction between kindergarten and school.

Brief:

For our community issues project we have decided to help 3 and 4 year olds to get prepared for school whilst teaching them to be creative. We are going to focus on the communication, social and creative skills because these are the main skills to start primary school with. We will then visit a kindergarten and hopefully spend a couple of days with the kids teaching them these skills.

Action Plan:

1
. First we will research which kindergarten we are going to go to.
2.Phone or email them to make sure we are aloud to help.
3.If the kindergarten replies yes we will lesson/play.
4.We will then buy the equipment.
5.Arrange a time and transport
6. Go to the kindy.
7.Possibly create a questionnaire for the kindy teachers and mothers of the kindy kids.

Final Reflection

Whilst doing my 15 days to make a difference I have learnt that it is extremely important to do a little thing in your life every day that will benefit others, like doing chores to reduce their workload, giving clothes, donating food, everything helps. Little things like drawing the blinds in the dining and living room will reduce your mum/dad/your chores so that they have time free to help with homework and have a rest! It doesn't take long and I found that I like helping my family cook dinner, and looking after my sisters is fun if they are in a good mood. My family thank me for helping and they are grateful for what I've been doing to help.

Day 16

Today I sorted out some of my old clothes to donate to put in the clothing bin when we have a chance. I showed generosity by doing this.

In England all of our old school lost property used to get sent to Africa at the end of the year, and Mr. Bright (Headmaster) said he saw a lost child on the news in Africa wearing one of our school Jumpers!

Day 15

Yesterday I helped my mum cook supper and wash the plates afterwards. My mum hadnt asked me to do that so I knew it was a good deed. I showed helpfulness by doing this. We had chicken and spinach curry, which was very spicy, although I didnt like the spinach very much!

Day 3

On Monday 19th May I helped out around the house by doing odd jobs like setting and clearing the table, tiding the rumpus room and looking after my sister and her friend. My mum was really pleased because she was preparing a big meal and if I hadn’t done those jobs she would have had more work later, so I have helped out.

Day 2

On Sunday (today) me and my family went to visit some family friends. We all went to Cockle Bay (to find some cockles) and I helped by doing a number of things. First of all I helped by entertaining Ben, Alfie (their boys)and Tasha and Lexie (my sisters). Then after that we went back to their house and had lunch which was a gorgeous Roast Dinner after which I cleared away and helped cook the cockles in white wine, garlic and onion sauce. My actions helped Helen (their mum) and my mum very much as it meant that they could rest and have a chat while I looked after the kids.

Welcome To My Blog

Hello.
Room 11 has been learning about citizenship, and at the moment we are doing 15 days to make a difference. This is good because we can help the people around us by just doing small things like clearing the table and washing up.
